I took thouse photos in my old panasonic camera, very family, very simple one.
I've added my tutor comments just after the photos.
Black and white - contrast in the same photo

Tutor comments:
The black and white clouds in one picture work very well on a visual level, although presenting the picture in black and white rather than in colour may have strengthened this message further.

Hard & soft

Tutor comments:
These are both lovely pictures, Orly. The heavy chain is well composed and the picture of the child sleeping is beautiful. However, for this exercise, we really do need to see a strong pairing between the subjects, and this is not so apparent.

Few & Many

Tutor comments:
Ideally it would have been nice to see these shots taken of the same kind of flower. However, because both pictures show yellow flowers on a green background I think your subjects work very well. We can look at both and instantly understand that in one we are looking at an abundance of flowers and in the other only one. The message is visually strong and we do not need to see the title displayed. Well done.

Broad & Narrow

Tutor comments:
You have worked well with camera angles for these shots, thinking correctly that a picture illustrating ‘broad’ should be in landscape format, and a picture of ‘narrow’ is best captured as an upright. However, I would like to see a stronger relationship between the two images. Because there are other contrasts between the two subjects we become visually confused by the message.

Curved & Straight

Tutor comments:
These two photographs work very well together. The colouring of both images is very similar and the lack of other distractions within the frames allows the audience to look for the differences between the two. Both are framed well and show nice strong lines. Well done.

Liquid & Solid

Tutor comments:
have the same considerations for these images as above. The liquid choice works very well, and a picture of ice cubes would have given the perfect combination allowing the viewer to realise the difference between the two pictures. Although the other picture is colourful, there is less clarity as to your subject matter.

Moving & Still

Tutor comments:
Your ‘moving’ image works perfectly for this subject. What a pity that you weren’t able to come up with a similar ‘still’ shot at the same location. The gravestone with a pigeon on it, gives us very little clue about the intended message.

Opaque & Transparent

Tutor comments:
because the brick wall shows the indentation of a window, I think that this pairing does depict the adjectives quite well. The windows could be a little more transparent. This could have been achieved if you could have photographed the windows with lights on inside. That way we would have been given a clearer impression of the transparency. However, these pictures are still very good.

Sweet & Sour

Tutor comments:
Sour is perhaps the hardest of all of the adjectives to show photographically. You have opted to go for our understanding of the fact that lemons are sour, rather than show this within the frame. This is acceptable and the pairing works well with the grapes giving us a stronger understanding of the connection between the two.

Tutor summery:
With this assignment you have started to explore visual language. Contrast, as a subject, has proved to be very interesting in this respect. It has given you the opportunity to appreciate the subtle differences in communicating a word in a picture. For future projects you will need to carry this information forward and really think about your subject matter.. Take time to consider how well the photograph will communicate to its audience without the aid of and pay attention to the way that images work together as a unit. Would they compliment each other if placed side by side on a wall, and if they do, does it make a difference which way round they are placed? The next assignment will give you plenty of scope to be creative, and to explore different photographic ideas. Hopefully you will now have the opportunity to really practice your camera techniques and will be able to give me a little more information about the settings that you use for each image.
My summery:
As you can see I didn't totally understand the assignment especially the point that the photos should have a link and not only describe a opposite situation. There are some photos here that I'm very proud of and in total I am happy with this assignment and the feedback.
