Project 30 - colour control

Here I was asked to find something of strong, definite colour, find the average exposure setting and make a sequence of photos from one stop over to one under.
I choose a very orange bin to make the sequence:

Photo 1: F/7.1

Photo 2: F/6.3

Photo 3:
average exposer F/5.6

Photo 4: F/5.0

Photo 5: F/4.5

What I have found out is that the over-exposed photos didn't gave me the feeling of to much lightning while the under-expose one gave me a very dark feeling. I think it's because of the angle the light has come into the room, when I was over-exposing the light almost compare to the one coming from the outside, and when I was under-exposing the gap to the light from the outside was so big that it made the photo much darker.
Although it was a 'small' project I think I learned a lot.

Project 29 - applying the elements of design

In this project I had to choose one subject and produce 10 photos of this subject, everyone with a different element of design that I have been practicing.
I chose 'street details' as my subject.
This project took me a lot of time to finish and it was shoot in 5 cities: Oxford, Woodstock, Bruges, Barcelona and Tel Aviv.

Photo 1:

Although the photo divided by different colours, the white dog in the middle dominate the photo.

Photo 2:

Photo 10:
Pattern

Taken in Woodstock on a autumn day

As I already mentioned, this took me a lot of time. I have proceed with my studies and always had this project in the back of my mind. I really like it that I took this in so many different cities, because it made me open my eyes for details in every city I have been' looking for the element of design even in scene not man-made.

Project 28 - rhythms and patterns

For this project I was asked to produce 2 photos, one of rhythm and one of pattern, here are them:

Photo 1:
Rhythm - Belly dancing dresses

I saw this dresses in Acre market in my summer holiday and loved the colours and presentation.

Photo 2:
Pattern - leafs

This is probably the most un-original photo for this subject. Leafs are the strongest examples for patterns. But I couldn't resist that....

Project 27 - real and implied circles

In this project I was asked to produce 4 photos, preferably with 2 real circles and 2 implied. It took me a while to finish this project. I just realize how hard it was for me to find implied circle photos.
Here are my photos:

Real Circles:

Photo 1: Tel-Aviv sea

Photo 2: Camping-coffee

This is an almost ready black-cooked coffee that we usually make when we're camping. It is very strong coffee and smells wonderful. There are some circles in this photo but the coffee makes the main circle.

Implied circles:

Photo 3: wiggly worm

thinking of this project, I was remembering the worms we collected last fishing trip from our garden and their tendency to cruel into a circular position. Again, I didn't had to ask twice from my son to find me a worm in our garden and took a photo of it. I think that the photo turns out great as the position if my son's hands makes a circular feeling to it.

Photo 4:

Taken at the Haifa zoo this 3 monkeys create 3 implied circles in the photo.

In the textbook I found 2 examples for implied circles:
  • "A loving couple" by Paul Martin, circle created by the shadows and footprints on the beach.
  • "Ola-Noatak" by Edward Curtis. I have to say that I'm not quite sure it's an implied circle and not a real one but the circle creates from the face and the fur around it.

Project 26 - real and implied triangles

This project is very specific. I was asked to produce 2 sets of triangles photos - real and implied.
Again, no canon for me...

Real

Photo 6:
3 people to make a triangle

My brother with his girls

I looked at the text book to find a tri-exmple for triangles. (I know, it's not funny!):
  • "Willow trees in winter" by Albert Renger-Patzsch. A perspective triangle converging towards the top of the photo.
  • "Plaquemines Parish, La. Oct.1935. An Unemployed Trapper" by Ben Shahn, Implied triangle creates from the lying figure, the legs and the arm on the left up to the head.
  • "The mother and two children" by Carl Mydans, implied triangle made from three faces.

Project 25 - rectangles

For this project I need to find and take a photo of 3 rectangles, so that they will stay rectangles in the photo.
Still I didn't had my camera so it's been taken by my old Panasonic.
I did try to think about something natural but all I could find is man-make things.

Here are my photos:

Photo 1:
Blocks

This is not a very sharp rectangle, still, it took me quite a while to photo it so it will be perfectly horizontal.

Photo 2:
Candles

The focus was of course on the light purple candle.

Photo 3:
Milk carton

Project 24 - shapes

That is a nice little project.
In this project I was asked to find 2 subject that I like with simple shape outline and take a photo of them.
There are a lot of things that I like but I tried to stay with the obvious shaped ones.

Photo 1:
My after-lunch Latte

While my oldest is in school and the youngest napping, I always have my mid-day home made Latte infront of the laptop, studying or web-surfing. You can spot here an obvious circle and I can spot here an obvious pleaser.

Photo 2:
Music

One of the first things I thought of when I thought of squares or rectangles - my CDs. In this photo is one of my favorite CDs.
